EMC a Leader in Gartner Enterprise Content Management (ECM) Magic Quadrant…and More

Rohit Ghai

President, Enterprise Content Division at Dell EMC

Vince Lombardi, widely considered the greatest American football coach of all time, said, “Leaders are made; they are not born. They are made by hard effort, which is the price which all of us must pay to achieve any goal that is worthwhile.”

This rang true as I was looking back at the 2015 analyst firm reporting season for the Enterprise Content Management (ECM) market, which has reached its culmination with the recent release of the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Enterprise Content Management. Gartner has once again placed EMC in the Leader quadrant of its report.

Life sciences organizations need assurance that they not only have a complete view of regulatory activity, and all communications and interactions associated, but they have it at their fingertips 24x7x365.  So if pharmaceutical companies are still storing their electronic submission documents somewhere on a file server, or manually digging around for all the different communications and interactions, a cradle-to-grave solution is exactly what the doctor ordered.

Today, I am pleased to introduce EMC Documentum Submission Store and View (SSV), a simplified way to store, search and retrieve submission documentation and all associated correspondence while adhering to the utmost in security and compliance regulations. (more…)

EMC receives “Excellent” rating in Gartner for Case Management Frameworks Research

Rohit Ghai

President, Enterprise Content Division at Dell EMC

The nature of work is changing from predictable processes to information-intensive processes and decision-making.  Organizations across various industries are redefining their work as “case-oriented” rather than transactional, according to Gartner. In turn, case management is moving beyond traditional enterprise content management and business process management. It can include document capture, process automation, collaboration, and analytics.

Today, I am delighted to share that Gartner, Inc. has once again rated EMC with an “Excellent” in its recently published Critical Capabilities for Case Management Report. Gartner evaluated 11 vendors of Case Management Frameworks (CMFs) across four use cases: investigative, service request, incident management, and process to decision.

Case management solutions treat a “case” as the primary aspect of work to be managed to a successful outcome; workflow is secondary. Cases do not progress serially nor predictably. There are multiple dependent workflows and associated object types, such as data, content, people, machines and policies. These interdependent relationships are the key architectural challenge.” – Gartner, Inc.

For years, Documentum xCP has enabled organizations across various industries to rapidly build and deploy solutions that automate information intensive business processes to drive better decision making. It’s about faster time to market by building, deploying and managing case management and other process and content applications through composition rather than time-consuming custom coding.

EMC Documentum Steps Outside the ECM Box, Named Leader by Ovum

Rohit Ghai

President, Enterprise Content Division at Dell EMC

Not all Enterprise Content Management (ECM) solutions are created equally. Despite the commoditization in the ECM market today, there are still several important differentiators that distinguish leading, enterprise-grade ECM platforms from point solutions.  At EMC we deeply value and focus on these differentiators, so we’re excited to announce that EMC has been recognized as a leader in the biannual “Ovum Decision Matrix: Selecting and Enterprise Content Management Solution” report for our Documentum suite. Leaders – as defined by Ovum, are those ECM platform vendors worthy of a place on most technology-selection shortlists, as well as those who have an established commanding market position with a product widely accepted as best of breed.

One thing is certain … information has not only retained its status as among an organization’s most valuable assets, but is actually gaining ground.  Effectively managing it becomes even more critical. And today, we couldn’t be happier that EMC has remained a leader in Enterprise Content Management (ECM) in the recently published report: “The Forrester Wave™: Enterprise Content Management, Q3, 2013”. EMC continues to be among the short list of companies to lead the pack across all Enterprise Content Management (ECM) technologies for its Documentum product suite.

Forrester evaluated 13 ECM vendors against 48 criteria across the following three key areas: current offering, strategy, and market presence. EMC scored the highest among any vendor in the current offering category for overall and business content capabilities and was among the leaders cited for their ability to address the wide range of technologies encompassing the content spectrum.
