EMC “Doubles Down” on OpenStack

Dorian Naveh

Senior Director, Technology Alliances at Dell EMC

EMC is paving the way to the 3rd Platform of computing by focusing on the growing momentum in the OpenStack market.  Recently IDC projected that by 2020, 3rd platform applications will be driving nearly 100% of IT growth, with many new workloads running on and leveraging Open Source technologies.  As a result, we are seeing tremendous growth in OpenStack occurring in the Private and Hybrid Cloud spaces.  There are several reasons for this including tangible customer benefits like flexibility, modularity, and reduced costs – all backed by a broad community.

EMC is committed to helping customers with their OpenStack deployments and is increasing investments in OpenStack through two exciting new offerings – an OpenStack Reference Architecture Program and an EMC Enterprise Hybrid Cloud OpenStack® Edition.

EMC Named a Leader in Gartner Magic Quadrant for ECM

Rohit Ghai

President, Enterprise Content Division at Dell EMC

The stakes are high when it comes to enterprise information. While enterprise content management (ECM) systems have been widely adopted, not all organizations are prepared to handle technological disruptions where information is front and center.

In January, EMC announced significant advancements to the EMC Documentum ECM portfolio, including the introduction of EMC InfoArchive, a unified enterprise archive platform – leading to Gartner recognizing EMC as a “visionary” in its recent Gartner Magic Quadrant for Structured Data Archiving and Application Retirement. Less than a year later, I’m excited to share that Gartner has, once again, positioned EMC as a “leader” in the latest Gartner Magic Quadrant for Enterprise Content Management report. The new report evaluates the EMC Documentum ECM portfolio for next-generation ECM, enabling customers to increase productivity, improve collaboration and assure governance in the cloud. EMC’s strength in providing an extensive content management stack, industry solutions, as well as InfoArchive help our customers transform business as they embark on the digital journey.

EMC Makes a Data Lake Splash at Hadoop World

Data Lakes continue to gain momentum as the go-to strategy for prepping Big Data for analysis. Since we launched Data Lakes at the beginning of the third quarter, we’ve seen a huge interest from our customers, partners and the marketplace to manage the challenges of data growth. We’re now taking the Data Lake to the next level for a variety of Big Data analytics needs.

This week, EMC announced a one-two punch of news with enterprise Hadoop players. First, EMC and Cloudera announced a collaboration to integrate EMC Isilon Scale-Out NAS with Cloudera’s Enteprise Data Hub, enabling users to access and analyze data in an agile environment.

Credit Where Credit Is Due: EMC Helps AllSouth Credit Union Improve Member Services

Michael Glogowski

Vice President of Information Technology Services at AllSouth Federal Credit Union

AllSouth Federal Credit Union serves more than 95,000 members worldwide and has more than $690 million in assets. We’re committed to a “people helping people” philosophy.  Simply put, we deliver on the promise by helping our members meet their financial goals.  50% of American adults report that having enough money for retirement is their number one financial goal, while 63% cite the inability to save enough as an obstacle to achieving financial goals.

When I first took on the role of Vice President of IT Services, I knew we had to craft an IT solution that would ultimately help our members meet their financial goals. Our members are mobile and require access to their accounts wherever they are. As such, we offer online banking, a mobile app and even text message banking — all with the goal of making it easier for our members to manage their finances.
