How Suite It Is: New EMC Data Protection Suite Support for Latest Microsoft Enterprise Releases

EMC and Microsoft have enjoyed a 15-year alliance that includes shared equipment and technology in our labs, and a cooperative support agreement with over 2,700 consultants worldwide – It’s been a “suite” relationship, indeed.

Microsoft recently announced the release of Windows Server 2012 R2 and System Center 2012 R2 as well as the Windows Azure Pack. EMC is proud to announce that the EMC Data Protection Suite offers full support for these new Microsoft environments for our joint customers who are transforming their IT.

Microsoft’s new releases provide a consistent experience across on-premises, service provider clouds, and the public cloud. The Windows Azure Pack runs on top of System Center 2012 R2 and Windows Server 2012 R2, delivering a Windows Azure-consistent, self-service cloud-based infrastructure. Together, these new products empower companies to create datacenters without boundaries using Hyper-V for high-scale virtualization.

Extending the Backup and Recovery Ecosystem: EMC Offers New Integration with VMware vSphere Data Protection Advanced 5.5

Time sure flies when you’re not worrying about your backups. It was a little over a year ago when VMware announced their new vSphere Data Protection (VDP) backup software and virtual appliance powered by EMC Avamar. This collaboration between VMware and EMC has proved mutually beneficial for our customers and partners. Adoption has been growing steadily. Then earlier this year in February, VDP Advanced was launched featuring a larger capacity virtual appliance and two application-specific agents to target a larger segment of the market. Customer feedback has been excellent, and we’re ready for the next phase of expansion.

Today at VMworld 2013 Europe, VMware announced the release of vSphere Data Protection Advanced 5.5 with the latest data protection capabilities that provide increased scalability, reliability and disaster recovery. VDP Advanced now supports the ability to store backup data directly to an EMC Data Domain deduplication storage system. This provides VMware customers significantly more scalability and reliability as provided by the industry’s leading choice for protection storage: EMC Data Domain systems.

A demonstration video shows VDP Advanced backup and recovery with a Data Domain System.
